Humanistic teaching and managing

Teaching:
Designing a course that places the instructor in the "facilitator" role, rather than the "dictator" role means developing questions throughout the course that do not have one right answer. Questions that prompt critical thinking open up the classroom to collaboration amongst the learners, with the instructor as facilitator. In this role, the instructor moves the conversation in various directions with follow‐up questions as students share their thoughts and ideas. Each student eventually arrives at his, or her own level of understanding as the conversation grows in depth. No student is ridiculed for sharing those thoughts and ideas, but rather is praised for actively seeking deeper meaning.

Managing:
Collaborating with a team of designers to create processes in course development and design is the humanistic approach to management in which the manager acts as the team leader. As the leader, the manager tasks each teammate with duties that in combination, create the whole process. The team leader also acts as expert and aids in developing the processes alongside teammates.
